4/18/2011 5 Stars - Found Avec randomly while waiting for a table at the brewhouse and ended up drinking a bottle, leaving with 2 more, spending a couple hours at the brewhouse wishing i was still there and coming back the next night. Lots of reasonably priced wines, good food and chocolate. The owners are really great - very helpful with wine selection and they make a mean raclette dish.
4/11/2011 5 Stars - I was yearning for a place like this in Truckee. A sweet little shop to stop for a delicious casual - yet classy - lunch. Grab a bottle of wine for dinner while you're in there! Haven't had dinner/wine there yet, but have insisted on making plans to do so this week!
3/30/2011 5 Stars- Fantastic owners with great service. Wine selection and food items to go with it are diverse and delish. I had the soup du jour and half a sandwich. A bit pricey but the soup was interesting and good, the sandwich was fresh.We will go back for apps and wine to sit on the patio when all the snow melts. I could picture candles and a guitar player on the patio.
3/28/2011 4 Stars - so glad to have made this discovery. we happened upon it during a storm. great food and really nice staff. loved the homemade soup and panini with amazing bread. and a great excuse to sample some new wines. we'll be back!
3/3/2011 5 Stars- We discovered Avec in Truckee during a snow storm. We were stranded at a hotel next door and wandered over for lunch. What a delightful spot! They serve delicious Italian-style sandwiches, home made soups, and salads at reasonable prices. There is also a large array of cheese and specialty grocery items and tempting cookies and desserts. At night the shop transforms into a cozy candlelight wine/tapas bar. They have an impressive selection of wines by the glass or bottle. There is a bar or community table for seating and a patio in summer. What a great idea: deli+wine+market+cafe. And what a treat to find fresh, organic food, and friendly owners in the mountains during a snow storm. I'm sorry that we were not stranded longer, and we look forward to returning again the next time we're in Truckee.
